Honold sells its freight forwarding division in Augsburg to HWL
Effective January 1, 2014, the Honold Logistik Gruppe has sold the freight forwarding division of its Augsburg branch to Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. Neither Honold Contract Logistics, Honold Night Star Express in Augsburg, nor the Honold freight forwarding department in Neu-Ulm are affected by the takeover. Honold Night Star Express and Hellmann will both continue using the company premises of the Honold Logistik Gruppe in Augsburg.
The acquisition is not yet finalized, as the cartel office’s regulatory approval is still pending. In accordance with § 613a BGB, all employees of the forwarding department in Augsburg are also taken over by Hellmann. Honold will expand its presence in Augsburg in the areas Honold Contract Logistics and Night Star Express. With the acquisition of the Augsburg branch, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics strengthens the development of its groupage business in Germany.
"In 2013, the Honold Logistik Gruppe has grown by approximately 100,000 square meters of warehouse space and has invested over 40 million Euros. We expect very satisfying results for 2013. Selling the branch in Augsburg was a strategic decision serving the strong growth of the Honold Logistik Gruppe." said Heiner Matthias Honold, Managing Partner of the Honold Logistik Gruppe.
As both companies have been working together for decades, Honold has consciously chosen Hellmann for the acquisition. Heiner Matthias Honold, Managing Partner of Honold Logistik Gruppe stated: “Especially since we have our freight forwarding department in Neu-Ulm, it was important to us that the cooperation and the network are strengthened as a whole, and that an owner-managed company with a comparable corporate culture would take on the employees working at the branch in Augsburg. Honold will continue to invest in its freight forwarding in Neu-Ulm, e.g. by taking over Lebert Erbach.
Klaus Hellmann, Managing Partner of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics added: “We are looking forward to this expansion of our Hellmann Family. This acquisition further strengthens our groupage network in Germany.”
